Warburton Trail Bridge (VIC)
08 August 2010
After many years of speculation, lobbying, approval-seeking and securing of funds, the Warburton Trail bridge over Maroondah Highway in Lilydale is finally becoming a reality. In June 2010 the first sod was turned on the south side of the highway to make way for the pier and abutment of the bridge.
The bridge will link the existing Warburton Trail with the north side of the highway making it easier to access the original route to or from Lilydale station.
Meanwhile, road improvements on Anderson St. Lilydale between Gardiner St. and Nelson Rd. include a new offset refuge island at the Warburton Trail intersection providing a safer road crossing for trail users at Anderson St.
