High Country Sandy Creek Bridge Update
10 June 2012
Following the remarkable progress made in January when all girders on the 600m bridge were installed in a matter of days, progress has slowed but it will not be long now until it is open to trail users.

(Keith Biglin / Towong Shire Council)
Landscape architecture to make the bridge an even bigger feature on the landscape has been installed. Fabrication of the viewing platform is well underway. Remediation of 2km of trail surface to Huon and 8km towards Tallangatta has also begun, which will bring the trail up to a fair standard for hybrid bikes. These improvements will make this trail a real attraction.
We hope to have a news item towards the end of June for an announcement on when the bridge will be open to users. An official opening befitting of this significant achievement is planned for spring.
