The first 5km of this rail trail, 190km west of Sydney, is now open.

Local groups and The Oberon Council have had several attempts to make progress on this rail trail over the last decade so we congratulate them on this achievement.
This is really the first rail trail in NSW on a Public Transport Commission rail corridor so it is a real landmark. The assistance of the corridor managers, Australian Rail Track Corporation must also be acknowledged and augers well for further rail trail development in NSW.
