Denmark - Nornalup rail trail (WA) extensions opened

Two further stages of the Denmark - Nornalup rail trail near Albany in southern Western Australia have opened.

Basil Schur, Project Manager for Green Skills, who is managing construction of the rail trail for Denmark Shire, reports that the 14 km section from Bow River to Nornalup was opened in May 2006. Subject to further funding the surface in this section is only suitable for mountain bike riders.
He also reports that a further 4km section from Rudyard Beach towards Hay River has been opened. This is part of a new 6km section extending east from the Wilsons Inlet Heritage Trail
You can now enjoy a 59km of rail trail between Hay River and Nornalup This does not include the approximately 14km unopened section between Parker Rd and Bow River that requires a deteour to the South Coast Highway.
