Funding for Maroondah Hwy bridge on Warburton Trail (Vic)

Posted: 26/06/2006

The Victorian State government has announced funding will be provided for the construction of a bridge over the very busy six lane Maroondah Highway at Lilydale on the Lilydale - Warburton Rail Trail, east of Melbourne.

Click here for more details of the rail trail.

This bridge been been long needed as the Lilydale end currently finishes at a steep bank right on the Maroondah Highway. When completed the bridge will extend the trail all the way to the Lilydale railway station making starting at Lilydale a far safer and enjoyable experience.

It will make one of Australia's most popular rail trails even more accessible and Railtrails Australia congratulates all involved in getting to this stage.

Refer to the Bicycle Victoria web site for more detail.
