While 5km of this rail trail in the Blue Mountains of NSW has been open since late 1996 it is now open all the way from the Oberon Station and historical museum.

For more information on the trail including a map, see our trail description.

At a ceremony on Sunday 31 March, Lisa Peterson from AusIndustry launched Stage 1 of Oberon’s Rail Corridor Development Project. The project was funded under the Federal Governments Australian Tourism Development Program(ATDP).

The launch was carried out on the day The Great Escapade cycle ride was in town, so a tent city and hundreds of cyclists provided a back drop to the ceremony.

More detail about the opening will be in the autumn issue of the Railtrails Australia newsletter.

Railtrails Australia congratulates the rail trail committee, Oberon Council and the community for their great work on establishing this landmark rail trail in NSW.

A ride on this trail would be a perfect way to enjoy the beautiful autumn weather.
