Description

This coastal trail features a variety of forest, farmland and coast heathland views. It is currently in two sections: -

  • The 33km Denmark River Mouth to Parkers Rd.

  • On the 14km Bow Bridge to Nornalup section the surface is still rough and/or sandy in places. The last 4km into Nornalup follows Station Road and finishes 2km out of the centre of Nornalup

In the 11km section between Parker Rd and Bow Bridge some parts are being gradually developed. It is hoped this will be opened in the future, perhaps when it becomes part of the Munda Biddi trail when that trail is extended to Albany.

A brochure including a map is available from Denmark Tourism Incorporated ph 08 9848 2055

From Denmark the trail continues further east on the Wilson Inlet Heritage Trail

Denmark Rivermouth on Inlet Drive is the trail hub. It is where the Denmark River flows into the Wilson Inlet and this is where the Bibulum track, the Denmark to Nornalup Heritage Trail, the Wilson Inlet Heritage Trail, the Mokare Trail and still other Denmark walk trails meet and intersect. There are two information display panels , one in the foyer of the old Post Office including historical photos of the original Railway line being built and some historical railway wagons.

The trail follows the route of the former Albany - Denmark - Nornalup railway opened in stages between 1889-1929 and closed in 1957.

The construction of the trail is being managed by Green Skills for the Denmark Shire, who are responsible for the completed sections of the trail.
