Description

The old Paramatta River Railway Bridge at Meadowbank has been converted for pedestrian/cycle use. The cast iron bridge was fabricated in England and erected in 1886. It carried trains until 1980 when a new parallel railway bridge was built. The old bridge was opened for pedestrian and cycle use in 2000.

The bridge links the Ryde district with Homebush Bay. It links with bike paths around Homebush and Shepherds Bays.

A 3km loop walk/ride around Shepherds Bay uses this bridge and the nearby Ryde road bridge.

The bridge is located between Rhodes and Meadowbank railway stations on the Northern line. It can also be reached by ferry from the nearby Meadowbank Wharf.
