Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail - Trail Description![]() The bridge at Woori Yallock is the longest on the Warburton trail. Alexander McCooke Location: Yarra Valley, 40km from Melbourne Start/end: Lilydale to Warburton Region: Melbourne Metropolitan, Victoria Length open: 40km Surface: Gravel Lilydale to Millgrove, sealed Millgrove to Warburton DescriptionWith a backdrop of mountains including Yarra Ranges National Park this trail passes through a scenic landscape following the Yarra River valley. There are plenty of good places to stay and good things to consume in the region’s cafes, pubs, wineries and restaurants. Starting at the northern end of the Lilydale Station car park, the trail branches away from the disused Healesville rail line and continues for about 800 metres to an historic bridge at Anderson St. At this point signposts direct rail users south along Anderson St and then east along Maroondah Hwy to the location of the original railway bridge and a steep climb up the embankment to the trail itself. From here the trail continues unbroken all the way to Warburton. A pedestrian bridge will be built over Maroondah Hwy during 2010. News Items
