The Queensland Government has provided  $2 million  from the "Royalties for Regions " for the South Burnett Rail Trail.

The South Burnett Rail trail will start in Kingaroy and travel through the towns of  Crawford, Wooroolin, Wondai,Murgon,Goomeri and finish at Kilkivan, with a distance of 60km.

The Mayors of the South Burnett Regional and Gympie Regional Councils are very happy that the funds have now been made available for the construction to begin.

The Mayors said the Rail Trails will reinvigorate the towns along the Trail as well as keeping the rail hertiage alive in the local areas.

The South Burnett Rail Trail will certainly encourage many walkers, cyclists and horse riders from the  Brisbane Valley Rail Trail which is only 45km away, which can only be a win ,win for both the Rail Trails.
