Come and enjoy the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail during Clean Up Australia Day 4th  March  2018

Join Friends of BVRT & Bushwalking QLD for the first ever Clean Up Australia Day event along the Brassall Bikeway & Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) on Sunday, 4th March 2018 from 6:30am.

The meeting point is John Murphy Park (62 Diamantina Blvd, Brassall) & for a few hours, we will be walking along the Trail & Bikeway, encompassing Brassall - Borallon, collecting any rubbish we see along the corridor.

Please ensure you are wearing sturdy enclosed footwear (boots preferably), a hat, 50+ sunscreen, sun shirt, insect repellent & bring a bottle of water with you (you can refill your bottle at John Murphy Park's water bubbler).

Gloves & bags will be provided. There are limited numbers of gloves provided by Clean Up Australia. If you have your own gloves, feel free to bring these along with you.

Brassall - Borallon of the Trail lies in the transitional residential to rural-residential sector & passes beneath the busy Warrego Hwy, so there is often quite a bit of rubbish to be found along this section. Let's help out the Trail Ranger by cleaning up the section as best we can & keep the Trail looking presentable for the next group of Rail Trailers who use it.

Volunteers will be separated in to two working groups on the morning; Gavin of Bushwalking QLD will lead volunteers along the Trail through Pine Mountain & through to Borallon. Tanya of Friends of BVRT will lead volunteers along the Brassall Bikeway, south of Diamantina Blvd & up along the Trail to Muirlea.

It is expected that most litter will be found between Wulkuraka/Brassall & Muirlea.

We will be providing sandwiches, fruit platters & juice for our volunteers after the event, courtesy of Ipswich City Council.
