The $2.5m Barossa Adventure Station was officially opened on 4 July 2020. The Barossa Council and the community are to be congratulated for their vision to create a destination that complements the beauty and adventure of the rail trail journey.

The Barossa Rail Trail (South Australia) terminates at the old Angaston Railway Station which is nestled in the foothills above the Barossa Valley Towns of Tanunda and Nuriootpa. After riding along the edge of vineyards and through treelined cuttings, the arrival at a neglected old railway station and rail yards was a disappointment.

The Barossa Council with assistance from the Department of Planning, Transport & Infrastructure and Heritage SA have solved this problem by creating the Barossa Adventure Station within the old rail yards. The family friendly adventure facility features a one-kilometre mountain bike trail, zip-line, accessible trampolines, bespoke tower and slide, skate ramps, boulder walling, half-court basketball, sensory sound forest and serene picnic facilities.

The past history of the site has been reinforced through the restoration of the 1910 Station building and the original rail turntable and crane.

The Barossa Adventure Station is a short walk away from the Murray Street, where excellent food and refreshments are available. Murray Street and the Barossa Adventure Station have ample room to sit, relax and enjoy the Barossa before your return journey on the rail trail.
