In collaboration with the Shires of Beverley, Chittering, Dandaragan, Gingin, Northam, Toodyay and York, the Western Australia Department of Transport is developing a Regional Cycling Strategy for the Avon and Central Coast region, just west of Perth.

The Strategy will set out a long-term vision for cycling across the region, including an aspirational cycling network covering key townsites and interregional connections.

The project team has begun developing the preliminary network and wants your input to understand what is important to people riding bikes across the region, and what opportunities exist to enhance cycling experiences for local residents and showcase the region’s natural and recreational assets to visitors. This region is already served by the popular Kep Track, linking Northam to Mundaring.

The draft strategy map highlights some other exciting potential rail trails, including:

- Clackline to Toodyay (abandoned rail corridor)
- Clackline to Spencers Brook (abandoned rail corridor)
- York to Greenhills (currently disused rail corridor)
- Northam to York (parallel to active railway)
- Northam to Toodyay (parallel to active railway)
- York to Beverley (parallel to active railway)
- Toodyay to Perth (parallel to active railway)

Please consider using the interactive map to show your support for these long term proposals.

Consultation closes 5pm, Friday 6 November 2020.
