A public meeting will be held on Sunday 1st February to gauge community interest in establishing a rail trail along the former 43km Beaudesert-Bethania railway line for cyclists, walkers and horse riders. A horse trail could run alongside the cycling and walking trail. Rail trails enthusiast, Andrew Graham will be at the meeting to provide information on rail trails and to answer questions. Andrew has cycled rail trails in New South Wales and Victoria, and was a Project Worker in the early stages of development of the Brisbane Valley rail trail.
It is understand that the Beaudesert to Bethania railway corridor is currently available for redevelopment and that a proposal for a rail trail would be seriously considered by the two councils and state government.
The interest and support, especially of local people, is needed to get this project under way and to make the rail trail a reality for the community.
