Run Walk Ride”

Celebrating the Rail Trail

DRAFT ONLY!

Date of Event: Saturday 22nd October 2011

Duration: All day event starting 10am

Location: Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail

What is ‘Run Walk Ride’?

‘Run Walk Ride’ is a free community event which celebrates the significant achievements of the iconic Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail including the construction of the bridge over the Maroondah Hwy and other trail linkages implemented.

The aim of the event is to provide an active community event that is inclusive for all abilities whilst celebrating the achievements of the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail.

The event will have a strong focus on encouraging participation from the wide community including individuals and families, schools, the indigenous community, sport and recreation clubs, and community and township groups.

Participants are encouraged to actively participate in the event and by either running, walking, cycling or horse riding between the designated Station Sites.

Along the length of the trail, various Station Sites are established to showcase the relevant township. Whilst at a Station Site participants may choose to participate in a number of community activities and learn about the township.

This is not a time or distance measured event, participants can choose how much of the trail they wish to complete simply by selecting to start and stop at any of the Station Sites of their choice.

Alternatively participants may choose to drive to each of the Station Sites and only participate in activities held at these sites.

All participants will receive a Rail Trail Passport which can be stamped at each Station Site along the trail. Participants who obtain all stamps in their Rail Trail Passport may enter into the prize draw to win fabulous prizes. The prize draw will be drawn at the conclusion of the event.
