For over 30 years volunteers have generously donated their time and skills to promote the development and enjoyment of rail trails across Australia, some for nearly all that time!
There is little doubt that the current 3000+ km of rail trails would simply not exist without the work of Friend’s Groups, Committees of Management and Rail Trails Australia’s volunteers.
This year’s National Volunteer Week theme ‘Connecting Communities’ celebrates the power of volunteering to bring people together and acknowledges the incredible impact volunteers have in building thriving and inclusive communities.
Whilst people’s motivation for volunteering may differ, just as may their skills and cultural background, the spirit of being part of a community coming together for a common cause unites us.
Rail Trails Australia is one of the more fortunate organisations that has a very committed volunteer base, and we’d like to thank those who have and continue to volunteer their time to improve and expand Australia’s rail trail network.
On that note we are still looking for further support with advertising and grant funding applications and would love to hear from you if you think you can assist with that.
Once again, thanks to our volunteers for their efforts and contributing to the difference we are making.
