The East Gippsland Rail Trail is situated in eastern Victoria and presently runs from Bairnsdale to Nowa Nowa. It will eventually run to Orbost.
This last weekend past saw about 15 cyclists train to Bairnsdale from Melbourne and cycle to Nowa Nowa. The Bruthen Caravan Park had some 100 people camped overnight 11/12th March and they cycled the trail over two days. Another group of 12 people from the Trails Friends Group also cycled the trail from Bruthen to near Lakes Entrance on the Sunday. Bruthen seemed to be the centre of overnight activities much to the delight of the local accommodiation and food providors. The pub did a roaring trade and many enjoyed the blue grass jazz on sunday night.
