Register for news updatesExcitement builds for the Official Opening of the Waranga Rail Trail
Although it’s been open to the public since 1 April, the Waranga Rail Trail will be officially opened at 10 am on Saturday, 17 May. The opening will take place at the trail’s start on High Street, Rushworth, with a number of special guests who have contributed to the development of the trail. A number of representatives from Rail Trails Australia will be attending the event. The town’s monthly market will take place alongside the launch.
The Waranga Rail Trail was completed by Campaspe Shire Council, with the 11 km trail connecting with the 8 km trail from Murchison which was constructed by the City of Greater Shepparton. More details of the history and funding of the 11 km extension can be found here.
The Waranga Rail Trail Friends Public Facebook group has been growing steadily and has nearly 500 members. Well done to admin Graeme Hanigan for his enthusiasm, advocacy and support. He has organised a family-friendly ride for Sunday, 18 May from 10 am – 2 pm. Details are on the event page of the Waranga Rail Trail Friends.
