Register for news updatesMacedon Ranges Shared Trail Project Progressing
Macedon Ranges Council recently shared positive news about progress it’s making with the 22km-long Woodend to Riddells Creek Shared Trail Project.
Although not a rail trail, this highly anticipated walking and riding trail will run alongside this section of the Melbourne-Bendigo rail corridor. The trail will eventually connect Woodend with Macedon, Macedon with New Gisborne and New Gisborne with
Riddells Creek.
Approximately 2km of trail in the Woodend area is now completed, with final planning approvals progressing for the construction of the remaining trail.
It has been a complex project with a number of delays, but Macedon Ranges Council have kept their commitment and are working through a range of planning and approval processes to ensure that cultural heritage and environmental aspects are protected along the trail.
The Shared Trail project has been funded by the Victorian Government’s Building Works package ($8.75 million) and $3.49 million from council.
