Mike Turtur Bikeway in South Australia receives a $28m boost to improve safety

The State Government has announced that a bridge for cyclists and pedestrians will be constructed over the Goodwood Railway Station on the Mike Turtur Bikeway at a cost of $28m.

Currently, cyclists have to either walk through a subway under the station or detour through level crossings at Victoria Street and Leah Street. Once complete, cyclists will be able to continue uninterrupted over Goodwood Station, reducing travelling time for commuter cyclists but, more importantly, providing greater safety in this busy inner-city precinct.

The bridge construction will complement the path improvement work and intersection upgrades currently being undertaken on the city side of the proposed works.

This is the final stage of Adelaide’s busiest rail trail, which sees around 1,200 cyclists use it every day.

Construction is set to begin in early 2022.
