The section of the Port Fairy – Warrnambool Rail Trail between Port Fairy and Illowa will soon benefit from a new surface, thanks to $600,000 in Federal Government funding through the Moyne Shire Council.
The Rail Trail committee is project managing the re sheeting of the 20km section of the trail using local limestone.
Sections of the trail between road crossings will be progressively closed to all trail users from early July and it is anticipated the works will be completed in early September.
The sections of the trail that will be closed during the following week will be noted on the committee’s web page: https://www.portfairytowarrnamboolrailtrail.com.au.
Detour signage indicating the route around the closed section will be placed at either end of the section. The detours will necessitate riding on local roads.
