RTA Community Grant Helps Fund Koroit Story Boards

Koroit Railway Station is looking better than ever thanks to the installation of 3 well-planned and executed story boards partly funded by Rail Trail Australia’s 2025 Community Grants program.
The Port Fairy to Warrnambool Rail Trail Committee of Management was a successful applicant for $3000 for the project, with the signs designed to enhance the experience of riding and walking the Port Fairy Rail Trail for visitors.
The Committee of Management co-contributed to the grant by funding and undertaking the fabrication and erection of the story boards on rail line uprights.
The three story boards explore:
• The operation of the railway from 1887 until the rail line closure in 1977
• The restoration of the Koroit Railway Station building and goods shed
• The construction of the Rail Trail in 2009–10, along with improvements through to 2024.
The Port Fairy to Warrnambool Rail Trail CoM thanks their volunteer, Brian Trotter, who spent countless hours researching, planning, and writing the stories that bring this important local history to life.
