Victorian Railtrail Funding
Bicycle Victoria met Minister Sheryl Garbutt in early April to seek resinstatement of funds ($700K) for the development of railtrails. The advice from the Minister was that direct funding was unlikely but the Crown Lands Improvement Program may be a suitable source for individual trails.
If you are interested in seeing the network completed in a cohesive manner and sooner rather than later, please write to Minister Garbutt stressing the economic and social value of trails to the regional and rural economy and to the many Victorians and visiors who are enjoying them now. If you have visited a trail recently let the Minister know how much you and/or your group spent in rural Victoria.
