A critical vote by Wagga Wagga City Council on the future development of the Wagga Rail Trail, and an extension of the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail, is coming up soon on Monday May 26th 2025.
A comprehensive report outlining the trail route, development process, costs, benefits and risks has been three years in the making and will be presented to Councillors on that date. Councillors will vote on the future of the Ladysmith rail trail and the proposed extension of the Tumbarumba rail trail from Rosewood to Humula. The Humula extension takes in the Downfall, a “hidden gem” section of track that looped around to enable trains to climb the hill to Rosewood and will increase the length of the Tumbarumba rail trail by around 23km.
Please show your support for these long-awaited rail trail developments by sending a supportive email to Wagga Wagga Council asking them to vote in favour of developing the Wagga Rail Trail from Wagga to Ladysmith, and to extend the Tumbarumba Rail Trail to the village of Humula.

Having recently purchased property on the Wagga Wagga side of Rosewood we would love to see both these projects proceed as a matter of urgency. We have sent an email to council stating our strong support and willingness to get involved on any working bees and fund-raising events to make these projects happen.
