This year’s City of Monash project involves replacing an on-road section with a 3m wide concrete shared path through the Jordanville Station car park and neighbouring tree-lined railway reserve, to Alvie Rd, Mt Waverley.
Further east, a similar 1.2 km section and accompanying realignment of Coleman Rd has been completed past a new car parking building at the Syndal Station. The section closest to Glen Waverley Station will be upgraded as part of Melbourne’s Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) some time later.
The rail trail links to the Scotchmans Creek and Gardiners Creek shared paths and is already designated as a Strategic Cycling Corridor. The new underground Glen Waverley SRL station, along with associated high-density housing and commercial development, should make it very popular.

I've been riding this trail, in it's many forms for years. This project has been a long time coming, and will be a big improvement. The new trail from the Glen Waverley station towards Syndal station is taking shape nicely with the pathway, and Coleman Parade being dug up, realigned, and remade to the 3M width. Due to the building works taking place for the new SRL underground station and surface preparations, there has been lots of disruption, but progress on the trail is progressing very well. A section of the trail between Lawrence Road in Syndal and the Mount Waverley Station needs some work as the surface is quite bumpy in places, with tree roots making their presence felt. The section from Mount Waverley station to Jordanville Station will mean no more on road riding, although little traffic uses this road so has not been an impediment to date.
From Jordanville , the trail is quite good towards the City, although again, some parts are in need of a refresh.
