Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026	Rail Trail Run and Ride Festival Held on the picturesque North East Tasmania Rail Trail, between Scottsdale and the Billycock Hill. The Festival is hosted by the Rotary Club of Scottsdale in partnership with The Launceston Running Club. Event distances range from 2km through to 54km, with options to run/walk, ride, or both! There is an event to suit all experience levels
Sunday 20 September 2026	Run Casino The Achieve Australia Casino Fun Run – now Run Casino – is in its 13th year and back with a new home along the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. With the support of Achieve Australia, the Sports Access Foundation and the Casino Little Athletics Club, Run Casino aims to be the most inclusive country fun run in Australia.
Saturday 17 October	Rail Trail in a Day This semi-supported event is designed for riders of all levels. Ride as far as you can within 10 hours — from Bairnsdale to Orbost — and if you’ve had enough, simply ‘check out’ at a pit stop and hop on the support bus back to the finish
Sunday 18 October 2026	The Athlete’s Foot Fernleigh 15 This 15km point-to-point event from Adamstown to Belmont features exclusive access. Run, walk or roll the iconic Fernleigh Track and soak up the beauty of this former rail line – now a beloved running and riding route through Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. Entries now open.
Sunday 25 October 2026	Mansfield Marathon Mansfield marathon will be held on the Great Victorian Rail Trail on Sunday 25 October with distances of 42.2km, 21.1km, 10km, 5km and a 2km Primary School Challenge.
Sunday 25 October 2026	CRoW (Cycle, Run or Walk) This cycle, run or walk event is being held on the Mary to Bay Rail Trail on Queensland’s Fraser Coast to raise funds to help end polio world wide.
Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November 2026	Rail Trails Conference This national event is to be held in Canberra (ACT). The objectives are to bring rail trail managers and proponents from around Australia together and inspire the prospective NSW rail trail groups to keep persevering with their efforts to develop and enhance rail trails. The theme is “Exploring successes and opportunities of rail trails”. Bookings are open.
Saturday 29 May 2027	Southern Rail Trail Run The perfect race for runners taking on their first ultra or stepping up from shorter trail events. This predominantly flat course follows the iconic Great Southern Rail Trail, passing through the historic towns of Toora, Foster and Meeniyan, each offering its own charm and insight into the region’s rich past.
