Features
Part of the Sydney Regional Bike Network. It is mostly a widened concrete footpath beside roads that follow a railway line.
- Access to all Railway stations between Parramatta and Liverpool
- Some creek crossings enable great views of old brick railway viaducts
- The majority of the trail is gently graded
Description
A complex trail based upon sealed footpaths. For a detailed up to date description follow the Cam West web site link below.
- Care needs to be taken at points near Railway Stations, due to high numbers of pedestrians
- The path under the M4 can be tricky to find. Signage is limited, and care should be taken to consult the website map
- You will need to be extra vigilant at some road crossings, particularly Pevensey St between Canley Vale and Cabramatta. It would be wise to dismount and walk if you are cycling at this point.
Background Information
Opened December 2000. This is the RTA's (Road Traffic Authoritie's) first long trail beside rail.
The Trail follows the very busy Parramatta to Liverpool railway line, giving railway enthusiasts lots of trains to spot on the way.

Yesterday (8Nov) I was on the trail from Liverpool to Merrylands, all OK but just to note the trail is quite narrow at Cabramatta railway station. It is probably easier to ride on the road in that section, just a limitation of space really. Apart from that, this trail is still a good ride. It does become less-signed at the Liverpool end, so cyclists should expect some on-street travel there.

I rode this trail yesterday from Parramatta to Liverpool. I agree with the comments by cascho - the trail is in generally good condition although signage is lacking in some parts. Also some of the paths through the station areas have changed since I was last on the trail. Still a good trail overall, with a few really nice sections. Signage to turn right after Warwick Farm is missing. The road overpass at Cabramatta is also a bit tricky to negotiate.

I rode this trail this morning (25/3/16) with my brother. It was a quiet morning for the trail, which was great because it passes through some busy pedestrian areas associated with the nearby train stations. The quality of the trail is good, and the surface can handle most bikes no problem. Signage can be a problem in some areas, especially going under the M4 and around Warwick Farm, but the trail can be easily followed. There is just one major hill at Guildford – which gives great views in all directions. The trail gives great insight into the surrounding suburbs and their different vibes. I found it a good rail trail.
