Yeppoon is a real beach side town
A proposed 53km rail trail from the major regional centre of Rockhampton to the coastal resort town of Yeppoon
The first section in Yeppoon has been opened to a high standard.
There is also strong community support to extend the trail all the way to the Rockhampton to join the two communities together.
Due to flood damage care must be taken on sections of this trail
The first 4.5km section from the centre of Yeppoon to the Yeppoon - Rockhampton Rd is relatively level and has a high standard asphalt surface.
It passes through urban and picturesque bushland settings, and is a valuable recreation and commuting link to get into the centre of town.
and a further 1.5km to mountain bike standard to Bondoola. It is planned to have this open in 2015
.Care must be taken while crossing Barmayree Road due to high traffic usage
Braithwaite Street, Yeppoon ( parking available)

the 39km from Yeppon Golf Course to Nerimbera passes through flat bushland initially to Cawarral then becomes more hilly and winding as it passes through Mt Chalmers and Mt Nicholson stations and toward Rockhampton.
The 9.5km from Nerimbera to Rockhampton is still an active railway. An on road path or even a rail side trail beside the railway could be constructed and there is certainly a precedent in Rockhampton where mainline trains run down the main street!
The railway line was constructed in 1909 and was closed beyond Broadmeadows when its main loading, pineapples, were shifted to road transport in 2006.
The Rockhampton Regional Council has committed to taking on the lease of the rail corridor and funding has been obtained for the first section.
With to De-alamagation in Janurary 2014 this rail trail is now maintaned under the new Livenstone Shire Council, and are very keen to apply for funding to extend this raill trail.
