The Liffey Falls trail takes you past one of the state’s most attractive cascading waterfalls. The trail can be walked from either the upper car park, where there are picnic tables, toilets and water, or the lower car park, which is essentially just a trailhead. The lower end of the trail is narrower but well formed and follows the route of an old tramway used for timber hauling in the early 1900s. The falls are reached via a gravel road with sharp bends. Take care on this road.

Trail Guide

  • The Upper Liffey Falls track connects the Lake Highway just below Projection Bluff.
  • The Falls lookout is just by the road.
  • The track continues on to the summit of Projection Bluff which is above the lookout.
  • The lookout is usually just below the snowline.
  • The upper falls are a further two kilometres along the Lake Highway towards The Great Lake.
  • The lower falls are a two hour walk from this point and are also accessible by 2 wheel drive.
