The 17th annual Somerset Rail Trail Fun Run or Ride will be held on Sunday 14 July on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, Australia’s longest at 161km.
Rail Trails Australia believes this is also Australia’s largest annual rail trail event.
An initiative of Somerset Regional Council, it is about enjoying the great outdoors with family, friends or work colleagues and most of all, having fun.
Participants will have the choice of an 8km run/walk, 3km run/walk or a 25km bicycle event, allowing them to take in the breathtaking views of the Brisbane Valley, Brisbane River and historic rail trail.
The event takes place between the townships of Lowood and Fernvale, with free shuttle buses on offer to ferry participants between the start and finish lines.
Once you’ve run, walked or ridden the historic trail stick around for a free post-race festival at Fernvale Sports Park.
There will be plenty of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy, including live entertainment, jumping castle, giant slippery slide, rock climbing wall, information stalls, food stalls, children’s activities and more.
