A day of activities has been arranged to celebrate the centenary of the Yarraman railway at Heritage House on Saturday 18th May in Yarraman, Queensland.
The official commemorative ceremony is fixed from 11.30am with a tree planting and an unveiling of the plaque on the old railway station building at mid-day.
During the day there will be live entertainment, bush poets, damper and billy tea, BBQ, free facepainting, circus workshops and horse carriage rides for the kids. Bring your mountain bike and join the PCYC mountain bike along the old railway line to the old Yarraman Train Station, Yarraman Weir and Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.
Guests are invited to immerse themselves in the history of rail with photographic displays, historic footage and presentations as part of the History of Brisbane Valley Railway Exhibition.
It is also the Annual Heritage House open day with infor mation and mar ket stalls as well as Wild Horse FM radio broadcasting live from the studios in Heritage House all weekend as part of the inaugural Wild Horse Radiothon.
The celebrations continue in the evening with a supper dance with live music and entertainment with guest trio Euroband from Hervey Bay. Doors open from 7pm at Yarraman Communit y Hall, Browne Street .
8am – registration PCYC mountain bike social ride on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and Yarraman Weir Walk.
9am – 2pm – BBQ, billy tea and damper, market and information stalls, History of Brisbane Valley Railway Exhibition, Heritage House open day, free horse carriage rides to the old Yarraman station and stockyards. Free kids entertainment including circus workshops and face
painting.
10am – Best dressed mountain bike competition – all ages!
11.30am – Official ceremony commences with ironbark tree planting.
12 noon – Unveiling of the commemorative plaque. Yarraman Community Hall – Browne Street Yarraman
7pm – Railway dance celebrations with guest band and entertainers Euroband. Finger food supper and cash bar. Lucky door prize of three nights accommodation Mainsail Holiday Apartments, Caloundra. Bookings essential. Tickets $15 contact 0428 161 410.
8.30am – South Burnett Trail Horse Riders 25km trail ride on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail – muster @ Heritage House 26 Millar Street Yarraman.
