The Yarra Valley Trail (YVT) stage 1a opened a few years ago and is now heavily used and embraced by the community. Not only does 1a connect the Lilydale, Coldstream and Yering communities, but there is now a pump track and shopping strip link track at Coldstream to enhance the attraction.
And now, YVT stage 1b is finally underway after a brief VCAT delay. Fully funded, this section will link Yering to Yarra Glen, rising above the Yarra Flats and Yarra River on the historic disused railway bridges and embankments. Construction will commence as soon as the corridor dries out a bit after the recent floods.
Stage 2a (Yarra Glen to Tarrawarra) and both Yarra Glen loops (north and south) will also be developed over the next couple of years producing a wonderful community cycling/walking resource for everyone’s benefit.
