The offical opening of the Old Beechy Rail Trail will take place on Saturday 9 March 2002. The trail follows sections of the former narrow gauge railway from Colac to Beech Forest and Crowes in the Otways in Victoria’s south west.
The opening coincides with the centenary of the opening of the Colac-Beech Forest Railway and has been organised by the Beech Forest and District Progress Association.
The official opening will take place at 12 noon with the town crier, Colac City Band and the member for Corangamite; and a banquet for some 200 people commencing at 7pm which will have historical speakers and film footage, local food and entertainment.
