Esk is Open!
In July 2009 the local community of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail celebrated the opening of a 4 Km section from Esk back towards Coominya. The rail trail managers hope to have the remaining 9km section open between Esk and Coominya by the end of the year, which will bring the total length of the trail open to the public to 62 healthy kilometres.

New improved website for BVRT and user survey
The new Brisbane Valley Rail Trail website has been launched with new photos, information and even a blog for users of the trail to share their experiences and photos.
As part of the new website, a BVRT survey link has been provided for users to help develop new sections and to ascertain what is needed.
Information is also available on this website regarding the second round of BVRT community partnership grants available. The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail community partnerships program is a grants program open to not-for-profit, incorporated community organisations, local councils and tertiary institutions throughout South East Queensland.
The program will provide grants of between $2,000 and $10,000 (GST exclusive) to contribute to eligible project costs. Up to 50% of the total eligible project costs can receive funding. Please visit the website for this and more information at www.brisbanevalleyrailtrail.org.au.
