Coast to Vines Rail Trail set to become the center of the Southern Vales bike trail network
Posted on 24/05/23
The duplication of Main South Road from Seaford to Sellicks Beach has commenced and will include a 16km off-road shared use path which will connect to the Coast to Vines Rail Trail.
The City of Onkaparinga, recognising that the reconstruction of Main South Road will provide opportunities for cycle trails to safely cross South Road, has received State Government funding of $300m to assist with the construction of an off-road shared use path from Willunga (the termination of the Coast to Vines Rail Trail) to Aldinga (5.8km). The Willunga to Aldinga trail is currently undergoing final public consultation and it is anticipated that work will be completed by 2023.
On completion, the Willunga to Aldinga trail will create a 27km circuit trail linking the townships of Willunga, Aldinga and McLaren Vale. Approximately 50% of the circuit trail will include the Coast to Vines Rail Trail.
