Register for news updatesMajor Funding for Station Precincts on Great Southern Rail Trail
More great news for the wonderful Great Southern Rail Trail in Gippsland, Victoria with the announcement that funding has been announced to develop the Korumburra and Leongatha railway station precincts.
The federal government is contributing $3m, the Victorian government $2m and the South Gippsland Shire Council $1m, for a total of $6m in case your maths is not good.
A few of the upgrade improvements include:
- Delivering new playground equipment;
- Planting new trees and landscaping; and
- Building new public amenities for community members and users of the Great Southern Rail Trail.
This three-year project will complement the extension currently being undertaken on the Great Southern Rail Trail, which will see it extend approximately 130 kilometres from Nyora to Yarram.
