High Country Rail Trail Improvements
The picturesque 80km High Country Rail Trail in north east Victoria is undergoing significant improvement:
- The sealed surface has been extended from Ebden to past Ludlows Reserve thanks to $467,000 in Regional Development Victoria funding and Wodonga Council support.
- Funding of $500,000 to construct a bridge over the Tallangatta Creek, Bullioh has been won by Parklands Albury/Wodonga and the Tallangatta Advisory Group managing this section of the rail trail. Once completed this bridge will eliminate the need to move out onto the highway to cross the creek if the water level is high.
- The above groups have also removed the on highway diversion near Koetong. There is still a short diversion around the large Boggy Creek bridge which is behind barriers but is still quite rough. However VicRoads will be constructing a boardwalk to make this safer and smoother.
When the Tallangatta Creek bridge is finished the entire length of the rail trail from Wodonga to Shelley will not require any highway use in any weather.

Cycled High Country RT Tuesday 26/4 from Mahers Rd to Old Tallangatta ! Sealed to Ludlow Reserve but cycled all the way to lookout at Old Tallangatta!
