What started off as an idea to ‘have an active holiday with the kids’ has developed into an annual event for the Rail Trails Australia Vice President.
Steven Kaye and Maurice Fink have arranged rail trail multi-day experiences across Australia for many of their friends over the past 20 years. Usage of the ever-expanding network of rail trails has allowed the group to enjoy different rides whilst visiting, staying and dining in rural towns along the way.
The opportunity to promote a future trail, encourage a local trail friends group or engage with media or government is never missed, spreading the enthusiasm and benefits of rail trails as far as possible.
2022 saw the group of 36 cyclists in Castlemaine, promoting the potential rail trail to Maryborough whilst riding the trail to Maldon. The immense community benefits of the rail trail allow the transport corridor, previously only used for rail, now available for so many community members.
