One of the most obvious “gaps” in the Victorian rail trail network to be filled is the 12km extension to Yarra Glen of the popular Lilydale – Warburton Rail Trail .
After many years of work on this extension, the Shire of Yarra Ranges is proposing it be constructed as the first stage of the Yarra Valley Trail. The Yarra Valley Trail would create a loop using the rail trail and aqueduct trails to link Lilydale, Yarra Glen, Healesville and Warburton.
Further to the survey a few weeks ago, the Shire of Yarra Ranges is seeking public comment on the Yarra Valley Trail through an online survey here. The survey contains a map showing detail of the proposed trail.
So take this opportunity to tell the council how good it would be to extend the rail trail onto Yarra Glen. The survey will close on the 24th December 2015.
Full details of the rail trail are in our trail description here.
