New and enhanced features added to RTA website

Rail Trails Australia is very happy to announce some new and enhanced features to our website have recently been implemented. We are continually reviewing what our supporters want to see and how we present this to the public. Additionally, improvements to the “back end” of the website are necessary to maintain the reliability and safety of our website, and improve administration efficiency. The ones visible to you are noted below.

We have created a new Events Calendar page to showcase events on rail rails (this has previously just been in our monthly RTA News Update emails). Please let us know about your upcoming event.

Enhancements to the map line colours in the satellite view of our rail trail maps mean that the colours are brighter versions of the regular colours and therefore much easier to distinguish from other mapping characteristics.

For those of you who want to become RTA Members or wish to renew your membership, we have developed and implemented options to sign up or renew for 1, 2 or 3 years. Selecting more than 1 year means that you will only need to renew your membership after 2 or 3 years (i.e. “set and forget”) — this will give you peace of mind that your membership and support remains continuous and at the fixed price without you having to go through the renewal process each year.

We have dispensed with the “Captcha” tests that required all users to confirm they were legitimately joining up, renewing membership, etc. This often frustrating process has been replaced with a more effective “behind the scenes” system so far less irritation for all those who interact with our website.

For our supporters who have very kindly paid for advertising their services on our website, we have developed and implemented automated advertising renewal and reminder emails.  This will mean that advertisers are notified well in advance of the expiry date of their advertisements to consider renewing them and subsequent reminder emails will assist to ensure continuity of information regarding these wonderful services.

We are really pleased with all these improvements and hope to increase our membership base through greater engagement with our website by all rail trail users and supporters.
