Dartmoor Rail Trail, situated in far southwestern Victoria, has officially opened.
This short, 1.3km sealed trail, runs through the Dartmoor Rail Lands, a reserve in the small township of Dartmoor. The trail is an initiative of the Dartmoor and District Progress Association and the Dartmoor Lions Club following over seven years of lobbying the local council. Locals were keen to rejuvenate the former railway reserve that was overgrown with weeds and considered a fire hazard.
Glenelg Shire received $2 million funding under the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program to enable construction. Progress Association President Wendy Dowling reports strong usage of the trail since its opening, with even a busload of walkers turning up! The trail has several wheelchair access points.

Way too far for such a short length of trail to go to.
I agree Brian but it's a nice stopover to stretch the legs and a wonderful asset for Dartmoor's residents. If you are passing by Dartmoor on the Princes Highway en route to or from South Australia, check out this lovely little town.
