Road crossings on several north east Victorian rail trails are to be upgraded as part of the Road Safety Program Rail Trail Cycling Separation Project
Exciting news that road crossings on several north east Victorian rail trails are to be upgraded as part of the Road Safety Program Rail Trail Cycling Separation Project.
The Road Safety Program funding supports “the fast roll-out of lifesaving road safety treatments on rural and regional roads and promotes greater protection for vulnerable road users, like cyclists and pedestrians”.
The safety improvement works are funded as part of the Victorian and Australian Government Road Safety Program and delivered by Regional Roads Victoria in Hume Region.
The works will be where rail trails intersect with the road, to help improve the visibility and safety of the rail trail crossing points for all road users, particularly for cyclists and pedestrians.
The rail trails to receive improvements are the Murray to Mountains, Great Victorian and even part of the future Wallan to Heathcote Rail Trail.
All works are due to be completed around the middle of this year.
The Road Safety Program is delivering improvements across a number of sites. Information on the project, including the list of sites to receive safety improvements can be found on the project webpage:

I’m emailing with exciting news regarding works planned in Hume Region as part of the Road Safety Program Rail Trail Cycling Separation Project.
Road Safety Program
The Road Safety Program funding supports the fast roll-out of lifesaving road safety treatments on rural and regional roads and promotes greater protection for vulnerable road users, like cyclists and pedestrians.
Safety improvement works will be delivered at various locations in Hume Region, where rail trails intersect with the road, to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.
As part of the Victorian and Australian Government’s joint funded Road Safety Program we will be delivering improvements across a number of sites.
Information on the project, including the list of sites to receive safety improvements can be found on the project webpage:
These works will help to improve the visibility and safety of the Rail Trail crossing points for all road users.
In some instances the works will be delivered by local councils, at other sites the work will be completed by Regional Roads Victoria.
