At the beginning of February 2008 the first sod was turned to begin development of this great trail. Frustratingly over the last few years development has been blocked by a few seasons of unprecendent high rain falls, and other complications.
The last section to be developed was the boardwalk over Kelly’s Swamp, and progress was hindered by the weather but finally this last section is now complete.
After the official opening of the trail on May 31st, the full trail will be open so if you’re int eh area on the weekend of 2 June, get the bike or hiking boots out and give the Port Fairy to Warnambool Rail Trail a whirl!
Please visit our Port Fairy to Warrnambool Rail Trail description for more information about the trail.
