Pedler Creek Bridge Reopens on the Coast to Vines Rail Trail
Pedler Creek Bridge has now reopened after the renewal of the decking and balustrade by the Onkaparinga Council. The 4 km rural section of the Coast to Vines Rail Trail (South Australia) runs between the suburb of Seaford Rise and the township of McLaren Vale and crosses Pedler Creek using the original 1914 railway bridge.
The work involved the renewal of the bridge deck and balustrades, including the installation of a new hot-dipped galvanised steel subframe, hardwood decking and cycle-safe handrails. These upgrades enhance the bridge’s safety and durability while maintaining its role as a key connection for cyclists and pedestrians.
This renewal work will ensure that this 110-year-old bridge is serviceable for many decades to come.
