Queensland Government approves funding for the next stage of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail
Posted on 13/01/16
The Honourable Jackie Trad MP, Deputy Premier has advised that funding has been granted for the Toogoolawah to Moore Section of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.
This section includes the Heritage Listed Yimbun Tunnel built in 1915.
Once the Toogoolawah to Moore section (27km) is complete the total usage rail trail will be 140km, leaving only the Wulkuraka to Wanora section to be built.
Once the missing “link” is complete it will be possible to catch a interurban train from the Brisbane CBD to the rail trailhead at Wulkuraka station.
Rail Trails Australia would like to thank the Queensland Government for providing the funds to complete the Toogoolawh to Moore section of the BVRT which will allow 140km of continious BVRT.
Thanks must also be credited to local Somerset resident, Paul Heymans for his passion and his campaign to see the complete 160km BVRT built.
