Expressions of Interest.
Suitably qualified consultancy firms or individuals are invited to submit Expressions of Interest in the conduct of a Feasibility Study to address the feasibility of utilising former railway corridors from Tumut to Batlow and Wagga Wagga to Tumbarumba for rail trails.
It is envisaged that such rail trails, when constructed, will be accessible to the public for recreational walking and cycling through some of the most picturesque country in the Riverina, making significant contribution as a tourism resource to the economic wellbeing of the region and also to the general wellbeing of people within and outside the region through pursuit of healthy activity.
The successful applicant will be required to liaise with various State Government Departments and Local Government in the target area, to ensure that appropriate protocols are established to enable the rail corridors to be used as Rail Trails and to consult widely with the various communities along the proposed rail trails routes.
The successful applicant will report to the Riverina Highlands Rail Trails Committee, a sub committee of the Riverina Regional Development Board.
Closing date for EOIs: August 31, 2005.
