Rail Trails Australia ran a stall at the Off-Grid Living Festival last weekend at Chiltern in north east Victoria to spread the good word about rail trails.
The most eye-catching aspect of the stall was large posters of rail trails in Victoria and New South Wales, with attendees using them to see where they’d already been and which rail trails they’d tackle next.
It was noted that our promotional banners, printed some years ago, are clearly out-of-date, with 1500 km of rail trails in Australia now 2500 km, and the number of rail trails more than doubling from 50 to 110!
As well as enlightening attendees about the rail trail network in Victoria and other states, the weekend was also an opportunity for RTA’s regional reps, volunteers and committee members to catch up face-to-face.
Thanks to Jocelyn Harper, Damian McCrohan, Frank Kinnersley, Jayne D’Arcy, Greg Ralton, Vince Aitkin, Jenny Mustey, Carolin Gray, Craig Hariss and Andrew Campbell for volunteering their time. Special mention to Craig, who came down from Atherton in north Queensland!
Given the success of the weekend we may continue holding stalls at relevant festivals/exhibitions, so please contact ad***@ra********.au if there’s one in your area that RTA could attend.
