Following on from a successful exhibition at the Melbourne Bike Show last month, RTA were again represented at the inaugural Micromobility Conference and Expo at Randwick in Sydney on 25-26 November.
In all, nine volunteers worked the stand over the two day event, greeting visitors and answering questions about rail trails in NSW and elsewhere, demonstrating the website, distributing trail flyers and signing up new members.
Sydney Metro and Hunter regional representative Sam Reich presented a talk at the Expo, entitled “Rail Trails in NSW: Are We There Yet?”
A highlight of the event was the awarding of the Cycling Luminary award for Volunteer Leadership to member Marie Lawton, for the tireless efforts of herself and the committee of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. Well done, Marie!
The Conference and Expo were a great success, bringing urban planners, local government officials and industry together to share the vision of safe, low emissions personal transport alternatives. It is scheduled to be held annually from now on.
Our thanks to our colleagues at Rail Trails for NSW Inc. for their financial, labour and equipment contributions to the stand at the Expo.
