The 18th annual Somerset Rail Trail Fun Run or Ride will be held on Sunday, 11 July 2021 along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail – Australia’s longest recreational rail trail.
An initiative of Somerset Regional Council, the COVID Safe Event is all about enjoying the great outdoors with family and friends.
Participants will have the choice of a 3km run/walk, 8km run/walk or 25km bicycle ride, allowing them to take in the breathtaking views of the Brisbane Valley, Brisbane River and historic rail trail.
The event takes place between the townships of Lowood and Fernvale, with free shuttle buses on offer to ferry participants between the start and finish lines.
Once you’ve run, walked or ridden the historic trail, stick around for the free post-race festival at Fernvale Sports Park or enjoy the Fernvale Markets next door at Fernvale State School.
There will be plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, including live entertainment, jumping castle, giant slippery slide, rock climbing wall, information stalls, food stalls, children’s activities and more.
Registrations will kick off with a reduced price Flash Sale, commencing 12pm Friday, 30 April. The sale will offer reduced registration fees of $5 for children, $20 for adults and $45 for families.
