The Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail Committee, led by Owen and Cathy Fitzgerald and Debbie and Grant Harris, has been recognised in the NSW Australia Day awards for 2021, winning the Tumbarumba Region’s Community Group of the Year award.The award recognises the Committee’s achievement in bringing New South Wales’ first rail trail on an ex-government railway corridor to reality.
Rail Trails Australia congratulates the whole Committee on their well-deserved award, which represents more than 15 years of dedicated work. The Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail has been an outstanding success since its opening in April 2020, delivering an economic boost to the Tumbarumba region at a critical time after the devastating 2020 bushfires. The trail’s opening is also a key milestone in the development of other rail trails in NSW.
